DBS Global University marked Human Rights Day on 10 December with a powerful and thought-provoking programme held in the campus auditorium. The session was led by Hon’ble Justice (Retd.) Mr Rajesh Tandon, Uttarakhand High Court, who currently serves as Chairman of the Arbitration and Mediation Centre.
Justice Tandon delivered a strong message to law students and faculty, urging them to recognise human rights as the foundation of a peaceful and humane society. He stressed that the protection of rights is not confined to courtrooms but must live through the actions, choices, and conscience of every citizen. His address highlighted the need for moral vigilance in times when dignity, equality, and justice continue to be tested.
He reminded students that the strength of a democracy rests on its ability to safeguard its most vulnerable, and called upon future legal professionals to carry this responsibility with courage and clarity.
The event pushed students to reflect deeply on contemporary human rights challenges and the role of young lawyers in shaping a just society. Discussions explored constitutional values, ethical responsibility, and the power of informed legal advocacy.
The programme closed with an engaging interactive session, where students raised questions and shared their insights on real-world human rights issues, making the day not just a commemoration but a call to action.
