About the Program

D Pharm at DBS School of Pharmacy and Research is a two-year career-oriented diploma programme, approved by Pharmacy council of India (PCI).

Students interested in pursuing a long-term career in the medical field of pharmaceutical sciences and beginning a career in the pharmaceutical sector can enroll in the D Pharm programme.

Curriculum

D Pharm programme cover a range of subjects related to pharmaceutical sciences, and pharmacy practice. Common Subjects include:

  • Pharmaceutics: Study and Practices of preparation and dispensing of medications.
  • Pharmaceutical Chemistry: Understanding the composition and properties of pharmaceuticals.
  • Pharmacology: Learning about the mechanism of action and therapeutic uses of drugs.
  • Pharmacognosy: Studying medicinal plants and natural sources of drugs.
  • Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence: Exploring pharmacy laws, ethics, and regulations.
  • Hospital Pharmacy: Focusing on pharmacy practices within a hospital setting.
  • Clinical Pharmacy: Understanding the role of pharmacist in patient counseling, drug information and Promote Rational Drug Use.

Practical Experience

D. Pharm provides hands-on training in dispensing, compounding, and patient counseling. Students gain exposure to hospital and community pharmacy settings, learning and handling of prescription and drug interactions. It enhances their understanding of pharmacological concepts through real-world application. This experience prepares them for professional roles in healthcare and medication management.

Licensing and Certification

Graduates can register with the State Pharmacy Council, obtaining a license to practice as a registered pharmacist. A registered pharmacist can work as professionals in community pharmacies, hospitals, pharmaceutical industries, and government sectors.

Career Opportunities

Individuals with a D. Pharm qualification can find employment in various healthcare settings, such as community pharmacies, hospitals pharmacies, retail pharmacies, and pharmaceutical companies. Monitor and evaluate the safety of medications, ensuring adverse drug reactions are reported and analyzed.

Eligibility

To pursue this program student must have

Pass certificate in Higher Secondary School or 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Maths or Biology as a subject.
